Prison

These images were made during the short access I had to the Penitentiary of New Mexico.  It was the site of one of the bloodiest prison riots in US history. It has been closed since 1990, but in that time it has been used as a set for films, training grounds for the military, vandalism, and, like me, a space for artists to explore. The layers of marks and decay don’t have a clear origin. There is bright red blood shining on the floor. It has to be fake, right?
