HOME is a photojournalism project by Brett “Hen” Pitts.
Here are some words from Hen about the project (March 2026)
“I’ve been working with unhoused neighbors in several contexts over the last year, and whenever there was consent or excitement for being photographed, I collected imagery from my time spent with members of this community. This was done primarily with a 35mm film camera. Images from this project include photos from the 19th street sweeps, the protest and meeting at the Fayetteville city hall, mutual aid efforts, and other moments from times where I have been privileged enough to be in community with these neighbors.
The purpose of this project is to help move community focus towards a group of people who are often ignored. Our neighbors have spoken on how they need the broader community to listen to their stories, understand their struggles, and collaborate alongside them and incorporate their ideas in the effort to make a better world for those who do not have access to housing.
I’ll also be working on putting the gallery into a zine form with the help of the wonderful @kudzuwanders. Donations from this zine will go towards expanding this project as well as into the hands of local mutual aid efforts that are getting food, propane, and medical supplies to our unhoused neighbors.”
